Get Involved

SKATE FOR JOY is a non-profit organization committed to helping children discover the joy of ice skating. It is our goal to engage under-served youth from all backgrounds in a high quality, after-school US Figure Skating Basic Skills program and inspire them, regardless of race or creed. The program will consistently provide mentoring that will foster skills in goal-setting and teach the importance of physical fitness and respecting themselves and others. By providing a fun, yet structured and disciplined environment that will help each child build self-esteem, they will mature into confident individuals striving to succeed on-ice and beyond.

Here are some forms to help you get involved:

Would you like to make a real difference in the lives of young children growing up in difficult circumstances? Skate For Joy can definitely offer you that opportunity. If you have ice skating or hockey experience, our program is structured to allow volunteers to work closely with the kids to teach them the basic skills. If you enjoy volunteering your time and energies to clerical duties or want to show off your salesmanship by utilizing your fundraising and donation soliciting skills, we would love to have you get involved with Skate For Joy as well!

To find out more about our volunteer program, please contact Carolyn Drumm at 401-751-4JOY or carolyn@skateforjoy.org. Please let us know which of the following positions might interest you:

  • JUNIOR HELPER (* if you are 13 or under, you must have parental permission to volunteer.)

PLEASE NOTE: Even if you are unable to volunteer at this time, please know that Skate For Joy can always put new or used ice skates, hockey skates, hats, gloves, sweatshirts or any type of skating equipment into the hands of kids who are grateful to have them. As we are a non-profit 501 © (3) organization, you can receive a tax-deduction for any donations you make. If making a monetary donation, please make checks payable to: SKATE FOR JOY.
